PAPE Golf Course in New Brunswick is closed and police are investigating a report of an attempted arson at the course.
Pape Golf is a private golf course located on the island of Pape, and is popular with families from around the world.
Police were called to the golf course around 3:30am yesterday.
Police are still searching for the person who was seen on video trying to set fire to a section of the golf courses perimeter fence.
The Pape golf course is owned by The New Brunswick Golf Association and has been in the news in recent weeks as the owner of a Pape-area restaurant was arrested in connection with an armed robbery.
Police say that the restaurant’s manager was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Papago Golf Course is also located on Pape and is the host of the Pape Memorial Golf Tournament every summer, and hosts events including the Papago Open golf tournament and the Papa Papes Tournament.
Police said the suspect may be known to them.
