DUWYN, N.C. — DARWYN — A new golf course opened up at Dunwoodie Golf Course on Thursday, a week after the Trump administration canceled construction on the former golf course in Durham.
The new golf facility at the former Duke University campus opened at noon and opened to the public.
It’s owned by the Dunwoody Golf Club of North Carolina and is expected to be completed in 2019.
The Trump administration cancelled construction on Dunwoodies golf course after the president’s election victory in 2020.
In January, President Donald Trump announced that he was rescinding the project and was pulling the plug on its construction.
The Trump administration announced in May that the golf course would not be repaired and would be turned into a park.DARWs construction was halted by a federal court decision that blocked the project from going forward.
The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the U.K.-based Trump Organization on behalf of the Trump Golf Club in 2018, claiming that the Trump organization was responsible for the delay in the project’s construction.
In a statement, the Trump Organization said it was working to resolve the lawsuit.
